After accidentally killing a trespasser and burying the body in his Brooklyn Community Garden—Erroll finds himself haunted by his past and his simple life begins to unravel.
SYNOPSIS
Erroll is a man of few words and fewer friends. In retirement, isolating himself to one city block—Erroll spends this time dealing with his one annoying tenant and working on his personal project, a community garden just across the street.
But things change one night while walking back from the corner store, Erroll witnesses a familiar gangster shoot a young man, place him in the truck on his car, and drive off into the night.
Later, from his apartment window, Erroll sees the shooter burying the dead boy in the garden. After a confrontation, Erroll accidentally kills the shooter with his shovel. In a panic, Erroll makes a decision to bury both bodies—changing his life for the worse.
The next morning, the police are at Erroll’s door with questions and shortly thereafter the owner of the community garden lot informs Erroll that she’s sold the property to a developer.
Soon the memories of a mysterious dead boy begin haunting him, and along with the cops on his tail and the inevitable excavation of the garden, Erroll’s mind, and his guilt take over.
As a series of events bring Erroll straight to the gang members looking for revenge, Erroll is left wondering if he can ever beat the demons of his past and the horrors of his present.

‘Close Encounters’ Meets ‘Short Term 12’

A young veteran takes a job at his childhood home, a foster care community set in rural Michigan—after a close encounter with a UFO, his life as a houseparent turns upside down.
Screenplay by Travis Burgess
Story by Michael Brown & Travis Burgess
We wanted to write a family sci-fi adventure harkening back to films such as E.T. and Cocoon—big heart with big visual effects. My script, The Terrestrial, is just that—Close Encounters meets Short Term 12.
I met my writing partner, Michael Brown, when I was a young kid. We grew up in the same town in Michigan. We both went to film school and connected again years later. Michael pitched The Terrestrial as a story idea. I told him I wanted a shot at writing it, and he agreed.
The inspiration came from Michael's real-life childhood home, the VFW National Home for Children—there is only one like it in the country. In the heart of rural Michigan, miles from the nearest town, the VFW is a self-contained campus with over 350 acres of land abutting endless fields. The VFW was founded in 1925 as a place where the families left behind by war.
The VFW posts in each state sponsor a house on the campus, paying for the food, shelter, and clothing for its children. There are over 200 children and 50 full-time employees on the campus.
Both Micheal and I love the sci-fi family movies of the 1980s and wanted to pay tribute to those filmmakers. So, we took the Children's Home setting and asked: "What would happen if one of the houseparents were to be abducted by a UFO?" Our story covers a wide variety of tones and emotions—ranging from silly humor and wounding drama to genuine wonder and outright terror—without ever ringing a false note.
Our lead characters are Lenny Michaels, and his wife, Ashley. Unable to have children of their own, they decide to take a job at Lenny's childhood home, the Waverly Home for Children as houseparents. Shortly after, Lenny has a close encounter with a UFO, and everything he thought he knew shatters into a million pieces. How do you explain an alien abduction to your partner? Or to your employer? Lenny fears he could lose everything. Confiding in Ashley could be disastrous. She's always been there for Lenny. She dropped out of college for Lenny, supporting him with his PTSD after his three tours in Iraq. What would Ashley think? Would she leave him? To make matters harder, Lenny's boss has asked him to speak at the States Days—a critical weekend when all of the donors visit the campus. He's the perfect poster boy for the Home, but how will he be able to speak in public after what he went through? Lenny struggles to keep up appearances and tries his best to be a father figure to his six children. All the while, he knows there is a monster somewhere in the sky. How can he protect the ones he loves if he cannot defend himself?

Ready for the adventure of a lifetime? Meet Guy Guggenheim! Guy is a fourth-grader, time-traveler, history savant... and an all-around really great guy (no pun intended). He’s a sweet kid, but a bit of a loner. He is often picked on by a group of bozos at his school. To escape, he daydreams of having his own adventures like the hero explorers and scientists he admires.
One fateful field trip to the Museum of Natural History, Guy meets a 4,000-year-old talking cat named Columbus. Together, Guy and Columbus go on real-life adventures. This duo is transported back in time by leaping through hidden portals behind the dioramas in the Museum.
In each episode, Guy and Columbus encounter famous explorers or scientists and help them in their journeys while learning about important historic events.
Billy Raftery with CBS Sports and Coalition Films tells the story of iconic broadcaster and college basketball personality Bill Raftery in a one-hour documentary, WITH A KISS. The show debuts Final Four weekend on Saturday, April 2, 2016 (12:00-1:00 PM, ET) on CBS. The documentary is produced by Raftery’s son, Billy and Joseph Castelo. Billy Raftery directs and narrates the film.
Through a son’s eyes, WITH A KISS tells the story of a father who had been on the road to the Final Four his whole life, and last year, at age 73, got the call to announce his first Final Four on television. The documentary chronicles Raftery’s experience at the 2015 Final Four in Indianapolis, his 35-year broadcasting career, and ascent to one of the pinnacles in sports broadcasting as CBS Sports’ lead college basketball analyst. The show presents an intimate look at Raftery’s family life and highlights his early years in which the Kearny, N.J. native was a basketball star earning player of the year honors as a high school senior in 1959.
WITH A KISS also features interviews with numerous college coaches, broadcasting colleagues and current and former players including Jim Boeheim, Lou Carnesecca, Tom Izzo, Mike Krzyzewski, John Thompson, Sr., Roy Williams, Jay Wright, Grant Hill, Verne Lundquist, Jim Nantz, Charles Barkley, Jay Bilas, Sean McDonough, Jerome Lane, Denzel Valentine and many more.
Raftery joined CBS Sports in 1983 and will call his 34th NCAA Tournament this year, teaming again with Jim Nantz and Grant Hill to call the Final Four. Last year he was inducted into the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association’s Hall of Fame.
With A Kiss chronicles Bill Raftery’s life and the road to the Final Four through the lens of his son Billy Raftery Jr.
